Silo Extractors – Reliable material discharge from storage silos
Silo extractors are designed to remove stored bulk material from silos in a controlled and continuous way. They are especially suitable for sawdust, wood shavings and similar materials that can compact or bridge during storage, helping maintain stable discharge toward rotary valves, conveyors or downstream processing equipment.
What are silo extractors and when should you use them?
Silo extractors are mechanical discharge systems installed at the base of a storage silo to help move stored material toward one or more discharge points. Materials such as sawdust and wood shavings do not always flow freely under gravity. They can compact, bridge or remain trapped inside the storage volume. A silo extractor mechanically moves and loosens the material so it can be discharged continuously into a rotary valve, screw conveyor or other downstream handling equipment.
Why use a silo extractor?
Reliable storage is only useful if the stored material can also be removed predictably. By actively moving material toward the discharge point, a silo extractor helps reduce bridging and uncontrolled flow while supporting more consistent downstream handling. This is particularly important in woodworking and other applications where light, fibrous bulk materials do not behave like free-flowing powders.

Where silo extractors are used
Silo extractors are particularly useful for bulk materials that tend to compact, bridge or require active movement toward the discharge point.
