Precoating Dispenser – Protect filter cartridges

Precoating dispensers introduce a controlled layer of mineral powder into the extraction air stream before it reaches the filter. This protective layer helps prevent sticky, oily and difficult contaminants from adhering directly to cartridge media. The result is longer filter life, more stable filtration performance and easier maintenance in demanding industrial applications.

ABOUT PRECOATING

What is precoating and when should you use it?

Precoating is a filtration support process where a fine mineral powder is introduced into the extraction air stream before contaminated air reaches the filter cartridges. The powder forms a protective layer on the cartridge surface. Sticky fumes, oily particulate and difficult dust then bind to this layer rather than directly to the filter media. This can reduce rapid clogging, help stabilise filtration performance and extend cartridge service life. Tehno Filter specifically recommends the TFD for dust that is difficult to remove from filter cartridges and for sticky or oil-saturated applications.

Why use a precoating dispenser?

Some contaminants do not behave like ordinary dry dust. Sticky or oily particulate can quickly block cartridge media, increase pressure drop and shorten filter life. By introducing precoat powder into the airflow, these contaminants are neutralised or dried before they accumulate directly on the filter surface.

CALCITE PRECOATING DISPENSER

TFD Dispenser

TFD is a compact precoating dispenser designed to inject calcite powder into the extraction air stream before it reaches the filtration unit. The dispenser is installed on the duct upstream of the filter. At defined intervals, calcite is introduced into the pipe and carried with the airflow onto the filter cartridges.

APPLICATIONS

Where precoating dispensers are used

Precoating is particularly useful in processes where dust is difficult to remove from cartridge media or where sticky and oily contaminants can rapidly foul the filter surface.

ROBOTIC WELDING

Precoating can help protect cartridge media where fine cutting dust tends to adhere strongly to the filter surface. Tehno Filter lists cutting applications among the suitable uses for TFD.

METAL PROCESSING

Useful where fine metallic particulate can create persistent loading on cartridge filters.

PLASTICS PROCESSING

Precoating can help reduce direct adhesion of dust and particulate generated during plastic processing.

OIL-SATURATED PROCESSES

The TFD is specifically intended to protect cartridges in applications where sticky or oil-saturated pollutants would otherwise cause rapid clogging.

DIFFICULT FILTER DUST

Suitable for processes where conventional pulse cleaning alone is not enough to remove dust efficiently from the cartridge surface.

CARTRIDGE FILTRATION SYSTEMS

The dispenser can be integrated upstream of stationary cartridge filters to improve operating conditions for the filter media.

WHY TEHNO FILTER PRECOATING

A simple way to protect expensive filter media

BETTER CLEANABILITY

By binding contaminants to the precoat layer instead of directly to the cartridge, accumulated material can be easier to remove during cleaning cycles.

COMPACT INTEGRATION

The dispenser is positioned in the extraction line ahead of the filter, making it easy to integrate into existing cartridge filtration systems.

PROCESS-SPECIFIC PROTECTION

Precoating is especially useful when the pollutant characteristics, rather than airflow alone, are limiting filter performance.

LONGER FILTER LIFE

Precoat powder forms a protective layer between the pollutant and the filter media, helping reduce permanent adhesion.
